3.30 - 4.50pm DIESEL ALTERNATIVES, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRAINTS, AT WHAT COST?

There is no lack of alternative solutions to diesel: electric, gas, hybrid fuel systems, etc. Manufacturers of HGVs and LCVs offer a comprehensive range of products to save energy and provide cleaner transport. But at what cost is this energy mix offered to carriers and what is its return on investment? HGV manufacturers will be on hand to try to respond to these economic and environmental constraints.

10.00 - 10.50am FRENCH LOGISTICS, THE FUTURE FLAGSHIP OF COLLABORATIVE ROBOTICS

They do not replace people, they assist them. In areas such as picking, palletisation and box packing, collaborative robotics was designed as a form of physical assistance to operators with the idea of maintaining and improving jobs. It is also a source of flexibility and agility for logisticians and their processes. Displaying strong growth on the French market, the industry’s specialists continue to prove the effectiveness of their solutions. So is France a step ahead in this area? This debate will try to answer this question with experts from the logistics sector.

  • Facilitator
Laurène DE VIALAR, Voxlog - Journalist

11.00 - 11.50am [URF TALK] HIGH-CAPACITY HGVS, A CONTRIBUTION TO THE ECOLOGY TRANSITION

Offering a 25% reduction in the CO2/t.km rate, a 20 to 30% increase in productivity (in particular drivers) and a reduction in congestion (2 trucks replace3), high-capacity HGVs appear to be a genuine response to the ecology transition. Safety appears to be at least equivalent to, or better than, traditional trucks, according to feedback from 20 years of experience in Scandinavia and the Netherlands. Experts and economists will contribute to this debate which has always been a talking point in the sector.

  • Facilitator
    Hervé REBILLON, TRM24.fr - Journalist & founder

2.00 - 2.50pm TRUCK SECTOR ECOSYSTEM, STATE OF PLAY IN BASIC TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT

The truck sector is evolving. Heavy duty vehicles are changing with European regulations. New technology (Euro 6, electronics, digitalisation) is bringing about new job specialities. This talk will offer a rundown of training and employment opportunities in the sector, with contributions from organisations, manufacturers and training professionals.

  • Facilitator
    Hervé REBILLON, TRM24.fr - Journalist & founder

3.00 - 3.50pm [URF TALK] PLATOONING, A MEANS OF OPERATING EXISTING HGVS

Truck convoy systems (platooning) appear to appeal to transportation businesses. With automation equipment (level 4) offering reduced carbon emissions and consumption (5 to 10%) and increased range and productivity (30%), the logistical and safety benefits are promising. Experts and researchers will come and demonstrate the positive aspects of platooning.

11.50am - 12.50pm TRANSPORTATION IN 2025

In the space of 80 years, exchanges of goods have been multiplied by 200. The type of consumer goods and equipment transported has changed over the last decade. And haulage is set for further change in the next five years. We offer attendees the opportunity to look forward to the economic and industrial issues of transportation with the authors of the book “L’avenir du transport routier de marchandises” (The future of goods haulage).

2.00 - 2.50pm  CONNECTED TRUCKS AND LCVS: WHEN DATA ESCAPES FROM THE CONTROL OF THE TRANSPORT SECTOR

Heavy goods vehicles have always been connected. Safety systems have been fitted to cabins for more than 15 years. The fully autonomous truck will merely be the end of the process. Connecting all the components of the heavy duty vehicle has resulted in the digitisation of the transport and logistics chain, with the requirement to protect all the data of the truck. With connected systems we produce “open” trucks. Carriers and shippers are justifiably concerned. We will try to answer their questions with specialists in Internet of Things and heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers.
